In the Blink of an Eye...

Another school year's just ended, and this time it meant my darling Isabelle has grown up and graduated from preschool and is officially a "kindergartner."  This has been very emotional for both me and her-  as I'm so proud of all she's learned and the person she's become during her 3 amazing years at the Children's Garden,... yet I'm heartbroken at how quickly it's all gone by and that she will be off to

elementary school in the Fall.  How absolutely magical her preschool has been has only made this harder for me to accept as I know that there is no way that public school is going to be nearly as amazing.

So, reflecting on the past 3 years I've pulled up some pictures of her from the beginning of preschool, and now.

First day of preschool - almost 3 years old:

These are pictures of Isabelle giving her much loved teachers the cards she made for them on the last day of school:

I can't get over all the things she's learned since she began at preschool when she was still just 2 years old (almost 3)!  She was so little at that time and so scared to have me leave her there.  Now, she has learned to waltz with a partner, publicly speak, present her "World Report"to her class after doing the research and memorization, memorized an entire anthology of poetry, has learned how and when to use her "strong voice" instead of her gentle one, can read and write, has done amazing artwork this year, and has developed such a deep love for school and learning.  We are so proud of you Isabelle and hope you continue your love of school as a Kindergartner in the Fall!

For now, I'm trying to wipe away the tears from her graduation ceremony- where the kids walked in a processional holding custom made masks for each face, each kid received their "diploma" on stage while each teacher shouted out things they "love about Isabelle," before the crowd yelled "Look out world- here comes Isabelle!!"  It was such an amazingly emotional moment and so empowering for the kids.

Maui trip- November 2012

Going to post some favorite pictures from our trip to Maui last November, as it's the only trip we've had all year.

5 1/2 today

Ok so I haven't even posted a single blog in 6 months.  Does that tell you how busy we've been?  In that time, we've taken a trip to Maui, had Christmas, Isabelle's been skiing a lot, we've had Valentines and St. Patrick's day, Spring break camp, zillions of swim lessons, and then her Art Show last week.  Oh and I have been in a removeable cast and crutches (until last week) for over a month due to a severe ankle injury.

But besides all of that, I realized today Isabelle is exactly 5 1/2!!  Wow.  Every year really does fly by faster.  No wonder we had to buy her new clothes and shoes this week, as this girl is growing every day.  She is a reading maniac now zooming through her Bob books and spelling out words on her own very well.  She loves her friends dearly and gets excited to play with them whenever she can.  She has been swimming independently for several months now and we are still trying to settle into some new lessons to keep her going, since losing our gym a few months ago.  She blew us away with her waltzing with 3 handsome partners at her Art Show- but her art is even more breathtaking.  She loves art more than almost anything.  She recently read a book and couldn't figure out what to do with the stickers that came inside.  So she decided to use them to create a "Scene Select" as she called it- where she drew out various scenes from the book in different boxes.  So creative and amazing.

Busiest time of the year

October is always my busiest time of year.  Isabelle is turning 5 this weekend (how could that really be happening already?!), followed by her birthday at school the next day, then Paul's birthday the next day, and then Halloween.  All this a week before we leave for Maui to *finally* take that trip we were supposed to take before school started!

We were able to squeeze in some Fall fun as we enjoyed Apple festival at Isabelle's school, visited a pumpkin patch as a family, and had a school field trip to Jubilee Farms as well.  This year we tried Trinity Farms close to Isabelle's preschool, which we enjoyed as it was much less crazy busy and was pretty up there as they're up on a hill.

Here are a few pics to tide you over until I get back to posting about her birthday, and the rest of the crazy festivities this week!

Isabelle and her friend Hayden- such "true" love between them.  We are so deeply saddened that she is moving away to Georgia in a few weeks!  Hoping their friendship can continue despite the distance.
