Bye bye Nanny Shari

With great sadness, we said goodbye to our beloved "Nanny Shari," who has been babysitting Isabelle on a regular basis since she was 3 months old. I cried the day she told me she was moving at the end of the month to Texas (to be closer to her own grandkids), and of course cried even more when we had to say goodbye. We feel forever lucky to have had her in our lives and feel we learned so much from her, we can never thank her enough. Mostly, I'm heartbroken for Isabelle who absolutely adores Shari. As Paul pointed out, she knows Shari better than anybody other than us. Shari really was family to us out here, and we'll miss her always.

Here are some pictures of their last day together.

Doing "ballet" together:

Shari taught Isabelle (and us) tons of baby sign language, and appropriately on her last day taught Isabelle how to sign "I love you."

Lake Chelan vacation

We enjoyed a fabulous 3 night vacation to Lake Chelan this month. We got a great deal on a room at Campbell's Resort, which has a beautiful sandy beach for us to play in and incredible views from our room. Above are views from our room. It was quite hot the first 2 days we were there (upper 90's) so we spent our days splashing in the water, playing in the pool, and trying to force Isabelle to take breaks in the shade.

On our 3rd day, there was incredible wind and big waves on the lake, so we ended up going wine tasting instead of playing at the lake all day. We were amazed by how beautiful the wineries were in the area, overlooking spectacular views of the lake. We spent a while at one that had apple orchards, and another that looked like an Italian palace.

We were happy with how rewarding and easy the trip was, a short 3 hour drive from home, with a great beach, warm weather (and water) to play in...it almost felt like Hawaii! It was our first time staying in a hotel room all together, which worked out fairly well but did have its challenges (one of us stuck napping while Isabelle napped, with the other stuck outside until nap ended, etc.). Overall, we enjoyed our trip so much we're hoping to head there every year.

Blueberry picking

We enjoyed picking fresh blueberries twice this summer and Isabelle has become quite the expert picker (knowing not to pick the yellow or green ones, only the blue ones). Of course she ends up eating or spilling most of the blueberries that make it into her bucket, but has fun anyway. The blueberries we've picked have been by far the tastiest we've ever had! We can't wait to pick more blueberries next summer.

The walk to the last row of bushes where they still had blueberries was really far, as you can see me on my way out there in this picture:

First time boating!

We were lucky enough to be invited out for a beautiful afternoon ride on our friends' boat this summer. Isabelle got to share snacks with her buddy Charlotte while we enjoyed the sun and water. It was Isabelle's first boat ride and she was fearless (as usual), also enjoying a tube- ride with Daddy (although she kept trying to get in the lake to "walk in water," not understanding how deep it is).

Fox Hollow Farm pictures

I have gotten so far behind at blogging that I'm keeping the posts short, and will add more as I can.

Last month, we enjoyed a fun outing at Fox Hollow Farm with a bunch of friends. The kids enjoyed the baby tractors the most probably, but also saw some farm animals and had a snack by the river. Isabelle enjoyed flirting with Cole and a kiss from Elyjah as well. :)
